Please allow me this opportunity to invite you to become a member of the Foreign Language Association of Northern California (FLANC). Our organization has much to offer to teachers of foreign languages through professional contacts and information. FLANC also serves as a link among regional organizations as well as among other groups of teachers of various languages taught in the schools of Northern California.

We are convinced that your membership will be a source of personal pride and satisfaction to you, as well as a contribution to our profession. It is helpful to all of us to join together to share our common interests and to promote the study and teaching of foreign languages at all levels of instruction and involve as many people as possible in helping to resolve our mutual concerns.

I urge you to take advantage of the dues form enclosed regarding FLANC. Please fill out all details regarding your name and addresses and return it to me. Please feel free to share this membership form with colleagues in your school who have not also joined FLANC. If you have any questions or comments, please call me.

We publish a FLANC Newsletter twice a year to keep our membership informed of events and activities of importance to all in the profession and also send flyers regarding our conferences and workshops. Also, we host one conference per year in the fall at various institutions throughout the greater Bay Area where we have featured speakers, affiliate programs and other informative events, and a series of workshops in the spring. In addition, we encourage publishers of foreign language textbooks and other materials, including computers, to come and display their wares at our Fall Conferences.
